Milan Fashion Week 2011: D&G Spring/Summer 2012

Years after launching their own diffusion line D&G, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have decided to end their infamous fashion line and instead merge it with their mainline collection.

Milan Fashion Week 2011: D&G Spring/Summer 2012Instead of a sombre mood there was an air of fun as always as Prince’s “Kiss” played in the first models.

This season D&G were showing a collection of refined glamour opposed to their autumn/winter 2011 collection – which showed a magnitude of oversized text prints and fluro colourings for the younger generation.

For spring/summer 2012 D&G decided to make a fun play on the silk scarf creating fabulous silk dresses, skirts, tops, bikinis and more out of the most simplest of designs.

Silk was printed with Versace-esque designs circa late 1990s as well as polka dots, chain links, bright swirls and a hint of leopard print, clashing prints to create a fabulous Italian luxe approach to high summer.

Models mixed their prints with oversized statement straw sun hats (tied with scarves) and beautiful gold coin necklaces and earrings which cascaded from the models bodies, alongside gold 1950s style sunglasses.

Silk prints were also used to accentuate luxury pyjama style tops and bottoms that were also extremely wearable as separates and matched with fabulous wedge heels which adorned nautical rope and flag prints with silk scarfs to tie around the foot and ankle.

However it wasn’t all about the prints as designers Dolce and Gabbana added in crisp white shirts and bright canary yellow polo jumpers to bid a farewell to their beloved diffusion line.
