Milan Fashion Week 2011: Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2012

Milan Fashion Week 2011: Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2012Some might say that designer Giorgio Armani had only one thing on his mind for spring/summer 2012; the bad British weather, due to the projected backdrop of rippling water and sounds of crashing waves, however, his collection in fact leant more towards the tranquil water theme instead.

As the show started models stepped out in a two by two formation, with Coco Rocha leading the way, adorning silk tunics, tops and jackets all with a mixed tortoiseshell print which resembled a tranquil tide rolling into a bay.

Then came a mixture of asymmetric dresses, chiffon blouses and three-quarter length indigo and silver satin trousers (with a slight split) which seemed to be one of the key pieces of the collection.

Peplum tops and kimono wrap belts over slit silk tunic tops were mixed in with a dove grey, pearly white, nudes and sea blue palette with a hint of green seaweed thrown in.

Oscar worthy evening gowns which were chosen in pale green, moonlight blue and light coffee hues accentuated the bust and waist area with a satin cascades down the front. Shimmering materials in lame, silk and satin were also shown alongside striped dresses and jackets in a mixture of black and aquatic deep-sea blues that glistened in the lights.

To end the show three models stepped out in identical strapless beaded dresses, marking perhaps the floating clouds over a not too stormy horizon…
