Milan Fashion Week 2011: Prada Spring/Summer 2012

For spring/summer 2012 Miuccia Prada executed another wonderfully preadolescent collection.

Milan Fashion Week 2011: Prada Spring/Summer 2012Not content with bringing us bananas and monkeys (which emblazoned and adorned her designs for spring/summer 2011) Prada herself must have taken inspiration from any young prepubescent boy who was once fascinated with the Milky Way chocolate bar adverts, as smart 1960s Chevrolet and Cadillacs cars in Postman Pat pillar box red and Thomas the Tank Engine blue designs were squiggled across dresses, skirts and jackets complete with poignant flames tearing behind in the background.

For slightly chilly nights Prada added in  pale gold satin jackets which were decorated with rhinestone shoulders and complete with tomboy cars again on the back.

Fun and alluring designer Miuccia Prada always has a way of making you want to purchase the charming prints she devises and brings an amusing way to showing them to the worldwide press and fashion critics.

This time her show space was turned into an oversized car park with cartoon-esque Styrofoam cars for all to sit on.

Apart from the child inside us that wanted to steal our older brothers play cars, Prada also gave us an enameled display 1950s glamour complete with low-slung one piece swimsuits encrusted in floral appliqué which enhanced the bust area (think more St Tropez yacht attire rather than Margate with the family), complete with mid length style pleated skirts and pencil skirts and slightly cocooned collar-less coats with the same attention to detail with floral embellishment; all worn with dazzling statement oversized jewellery.

One thing is for sure, next season Prada will be creating a whole new fashion gang of her own…
